Run a Function

Set the value of a variable using a function.

This action is useful for dynamically updating variables based on the values in other variables, using a prescribed function to produce the result.

In this example we are setting the value of a variable, by adding together two values from the card record to produce a total and adding that to a running total shown at the bottom of the block.

To make a variable that has a different value in each card, use a prefix when creating the custom variable.

The custom variable can be used in a text component, to show the resulting value in each card.

In this case, we add a second action that takes the card’s variable adds it to a total, which can be displayed at the bottom of the table.

The custom variable can also be used in any other place that accepts variables - in filters, forms etc.
